The Many Glacier region of Glacier Park is one of the most amazing in the park. Many Glacier offers challenging hikes and climbs for mountaineers of all ages. Trails include Cracker Lake Trail, which climbs 6.1 miles near the Grinnell Glacier, Iceberg Lake which is ringed by a 4.7-mile trail, which takes you up approximately 1,200 feet and Red Rock Falls --- a slightly easier hike--you only gain approximately 100 feet in elevation and get great glimpses of Swiftcurrent Lake.
Nearby Many Glacier Hotel has 208 rooms, making it the largest hotel in the park. Located in the northeast corner of the on Highway 89 it sits on the shores of picturesque Swiftcurrent Lake. This hotel offers fabulous panoramic views. Built-in 1914 it was designed with the Swiss chalets in mind. The Swiss theme is carried throughout the hotel. The main dining room features the flags of Switzerland's Cantons.
Staying at this hotel gives visitors easy access to boat cruises or horseback riding. No stay is complete without a "jammer" bus tour. Jammer buses are so called because when they first started running in the 1930s the buses had standard transmissions and the drivers could be heard "Jammin" the gears as they drove up and down the rugged mountainous highway. These antique red buses are now both a symbol of Glacier Park and a reminder of a time when adventurous travel was done with style and grace.
