Shaky start but a lovely place with excellent staff.

However, the hotel did assist us and really did their absolute best to accommodate us, and because of that I deleted the 3 stars and have upgraded to 4.
My previous review a few days ago -
On our second morning waking up in Banff, it was not a natural wake up again. We were woken by the constant noise of trucks right outside our balcony. Loading, unloading, emptying recycling, then garbage, then laundry, then food....it was never ending from before 7am.
Not the peaceful mountain experience we were hoping for! We stayed in room 261, which (along with many other rooms) faces the side street (Moose St). We unfortunately were right above the loading dock/garbage collection point. The noise happens even on the weekends, and it's such a shame. We had a 'superior queen' which honestly is a small room, no storage space and no amenities to make food. (Small fridge and kettle, nothing else).
Honestly I felt tired, grumpy, and unhappy given the cost of the hotel which is think is high compared to others.
However - on speaking with reception the staff - who are all super lovely and helpful - they moved us to a room opposite which was a little bigger and most importantly, didn't have street noise. Hooray! I was unimpressed initially we had to pay to upgrade this, BUT - the manager apparently did try to contact me and also waived that charge which was very appreciated.
We were then in a 1-bed room, which had a lovely big and comfy bed, and a nice fire, plus kitchenette. There were things lacking though, for example there was a microwave, toaster, and coffee/tea facilities plus some plates/glasses and cutlery. But, no can-opener. No bottle opener. No small spoons/teaspoons.
The things that for me, made the hotel stand out - and would actually make us book again when we come back to Banff, are a) proximity to town, it's right there and makes getting the busses etc easy. b) the staff, they are all very, very friendly and helpful. c) the rooftop hot tubs are very nice, not huge, and quite busy at the end of the ski-day, but, a really nice addition and relaxing. d) the restaurant was great, really nice food and very accommodating when we arrived super late on our first night. Plus the reception area, fireplace etc are all very cosy and welcoming.
There's also free parking underneath which is always good.
I do think the rooms are a bit small unless you're in a large suite on the top floor, and it's not the cheapest hotel...but...actually reflecting on our stay, I would stay again, as long as it's a 1 bed room at least, and not facing Moose St! The noise is obviously not the fault of the hotel, and as I said, the manager and staff really did treat us well and took our concerns into account.

They are not keeping up with repairs and the price remains very high for this. Dog friendly hotel but you cannot leave your pet unattended and we used a Rover sitter for this. Probably one of our last times we stay at this hotel. Not worth the cost and repairs not being kept up.

Wonderful Hotel.

We stayed in a king suite so we get a bedroom, living room, ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette with half fridge, coffee maker, microwave and toaster, also kettle. They supply coffee, tea, plates, silverware, bowls and cups and glasses, dish soap and a kitchen towel. There were ample bath towels and when you go to the outdoor hot tubs there are towels provided. Also we had 2 housecoats provided in the room and used them to walk to the hot tub and back to the room. The indoor pool is inadequate, tiny but ok for young kids. There is an outdoor Sauna along side the 2 outdoor hot tubs which are wonderful, one is hotter than the other so you have choices and beautiful mountain views.
The hotel is on the main street of Banff so easy to catch busses, they provide free underground parking and keep rolling carts in the underground parking area to take your own suitcases and items to to your rooms. Be aware the king suites have their door entry outside on walkways which do collect snow and you need to walk into the hotel then outside onto the walkways to access your room door. We got used to it, but it is an inconvenience when it snows. I found the rooms well built so very quiet...we did not hear noises at night and slept well on the comfortable bed.
The in house restaurant called Pacici's has an Italian theme, but normal breakfast selection, my favourite was their Caesar salad, HINT: ask for the dressing on the side so you can adjust how much you want on your own salad. Yes they have a grill open for guests to grill bread themselves all day, it was not hot enough at breakfast so the bread did not toast up very well but at supper the focacia bread with garlic butter was perfect...they supply a variety of breads and condiments for the bread in a variety but its for guests when you order a full meal.

The decor is perfect with wood featuring everywhere on the walls, ceilings and throughout the hotel, a real mountain getaway. The room was not big, but comfortable with good heating. The restaurant and staff were excellent and we enjoyed many meals there. The location is easy walking distance to the main street and shopping area. Banff is a beautiful place to visit and explore. Take a trip to the top of the mountain and enjoy a meal with an amazing view. We highly recommend this Hotel!

Room was decent size with quite a bit of storage, nice Rocky Mountain Soap Co toiletries and balcony.
Hotel set up is a bit unusual with the corridors to the rooms being outdoors which isn’t a problem just unusual.
Sauna and hot tub were great after skiing although the hot tubs do get busy and no booze allowed in them with regular checks too (boo!)
Parking is included and plentiful underground.
Location great for all shops and restaraunts downtown - 5-10min walk.
Would stay again for sure.
