Beautiful Surroundings and Building, But Overpriced And Lacking Expected Conveniences

Bathroom floor heater did not work in our room; reported it to desk clerk when we left. Dust in bathroom on handles to faux drawers below sink and in other places. No tissues or lotion in bathroom, which we expect to find in most lodgings, especially at these prices. Only way to communicate with front desk is to walk down there. Could not find CBS channel on TV. Desk clerk gave me a channel listing slip of paper and said it was effective Jan. 1, 2025. None of the channels on list lined up with what I found on the TV. Sliding glass door is difficult to slide open and closed. Lack of good free, or inexpensive WI-Fi. Glad we only paid for the BOGO deal because we'd have been even more seriously disappointed if we had paid full price. I doubt we'll ever return. Surroundings and trails are beautiful, but the rooms in light of prices are ridiculous! We ate all our breakfasts at the Wi-Fi Cafe in town and all dinners at The Salmon House down the road, where prices were more in line.

Good place if you want to avoid all calls, news and staying in touch, and don’t mind the price.

Lodge has a very pleasant and large lounge room, with nice back porch overlooking the lawn that slopes to the beach. Good lake views from the back of the lodge and a row of lawn chairs that guests flock to at happy hour. Virtually no cell service; free internet limited to 30min. (No TV, although this was known.) Bathroom sink is in the room, not in the bathroom. Pricey place given the lack of connectivity. Breakfast coffee was excellent and biscuits good, and you can’t substitute toast.

Loved our stay here

My 12yo son and I stayed here for two nights while checking out the national park for the first time. I chose this area because when planning, it wasn't too far from Sea-Tac, there was good hiking in the area, food options, and it seemed like the risk for a lot of snow in this area in late Feb was low. I was right. Easy drive from the airport and weather was perfect for rain forest hiking. We stayed in the newest (1990s) building, Lakeside. This building has its own turn around loop so you can drive up and unload and then park elsewhere on the property. It was Feb, so we had no problem parking. I also got the Winter BOGO deal, so the price for two nights was about $200. Things we loved: the private balcony, the view, the lobby with the huge chess board, access to the beach, access to hiking trails, the gift shop, the restaurant, the grounds, and the amazing staff. Areas for improvement: 30mins of free wifi per device wasn't enough and the wifi was strong enough for my phone but not my work laptop, no microwave in room, sink in the main part of the bedroom means waking people up with lights in the morning, and the room is starting to show it's age. One headboard was peeling, wall paint needs cleaned, and curtains had some stains. Note: the mercantile across the street appeared to be closed for the winter and the lodge gift shop didn't really carry too many snacks. The rain forest village down the road though had a nice little store with a lot more food and snacks. Just in case you need something for hiking. Overall, we were very happy with the decision to stay at the lodge. It was serene, peaceful, and a nice little retreat. It wasn't very busy but everyone liked to gather in the lodge lobby in the evenings which was kinda fun and the staff were super friendly! We loved our time here and my son said he'd miss it when it was time to leave.

Historic grandeur

This historic lodge was everything we hoped for and more! We had a fireplace room with a lovely view of the lake. The room was large, comfortable and well appointed. We loved the friendly lobby to play cards or read. The Roosevelt Room was delicious and accommodated my allergies. I enjoyed the heated indoor pool every day we were there, almost all to myself! The Giant Spruce hike was right down the road! We will return again 😀

Do not book the Beverly Suite!!

Beautiful place to visit, we were there in late November and enjoyed the hiking and gorgeous trails despite the rain. The lodge itself is classic, loved the big roaring fire in the lobby fireplace. However, be warned, do NOT book the Beverly Suite, incredibly over-priced and under-whelming. It's in a separate building, on the upper floor. The "suite" is absolute garbage. Dark, dank, single pane windows, the bathroom has NO windows. Heating system is old and incredibly loud. The "second" bedroom is tiny and the walls don't go to the ceiling, leaving it with zero privacy. The only plus to this unit is the wall of windows in the main bedroom, but it's absolutely not worth it. The rooms downstairs in the same building were new and beautiful, the Beverly Suite is old and dark, needs to be shut down until it's renovated. DO NOT BOOK THIS UNIT!! You've been warned! ;-) We finally moved to another room in the next building over (newest building on the property and the rooms were lovely). I can't say about the rooms in the main lodge, sounds like they might be in need of renovating. Dining room food was just barely okay. Nothing much close by although we did eat at the Salmon House restaurant about a mile down the road and then got really, really sick ;-(. Pizza place nearby was absolute crap.
