My husband wanted to see the big trees, and we surely did! Magnificent! Early April brings few crowds but ice covered trails; need crampons or snowshoes.

The food was average in the hotel restaurant but I think you go here purely for the surroundings.
Little crazy lugging your luggage all the way to the lodges but not bad.

Best place to stay in Sequoia

The food was the best I ate in America, as well as the cheapest. The staff were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Great location.
The best parts of the park are within a 10 minute drive ( and you have to have a car ). The park itself is ancient, awesome and other worldly. A remarkable part of our planet.

That being said, the rooms are old, dated and dark, but clean and comfortable. The rooms are in separate buildings with no elevators and you have walk your luggage UP from the parking lots. I noticed a lot of older people had issues navigating these things. The main lodge is newer and nice, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It's very dark at night so you needs lights to get to the lodge for dinner if you come later in the year like we did. The food was surprisingly good and there was a nice variety.

Only great thing about this place is the location

The main parking lot for rooms was closed so it was a hike just to get your things to and from your car. No luxuries here. The redeeming factor was the friendly staff, especially Brody ... that guy can build a mean fire!
