Field Station Moab

Great hotel - but some noise issues

The rooms are spare & comfortable (it's such a relief to have a firm mattress!), and the pool and firepit area is especially nice for hanging out. My one complaint is that there are a handful of 1st-floor rooms — including ours — just off the main lobby with little to no sound barrier. A puzzling design choice, and not helped by the echo-y acoustics of the hallways. I woke up early every morning, my sleep disrupted by other guests getting up, talking, opening & closing doors, etc. If you are going to stay at Field Station, I'd recommend asking to move if you are given one of those rooms.

Ther is a nice hot tub and swimming pool. The staff was very friendly. The fire pit is fun to hang out around in the evening and enjoy a beer or glass of wine.

Gear Shop was handy, and had much of what one would need for an adventure stay. Cafe was great for breakfast, and staff was always helpful.

Horrible customer service

Published Date: Apr, 21, 2025 Travel Date: Apr, 1, 2025 Rating: 1 The room itself was clean and adequate. The customer service was atrocious. I called ahead a couple of days before arriving to try to get early check in, and the girl on the phone told me that it shouldn't be a problem and she put me down for it in the system. Our plane ended up getting a little bit delayed so we got there at 3:45 p.m., only 15 minutes before regular check in. We had to quickly change clothes to get off to an excursion that we had booked, so when we arrived I figured we would just be able to go into the room. Not the case, the girl at the front said our room wasn't ready yet and it wouldn't be until 4:30. There was no apology, no sympathy, just flat out said we couldn't get in the room until at least 4:30, there was another girl at the front desk who was overhearing the situation and offered to keep track of our bags until we could come back later to check in, but we ended up just taking our bags back into the rental car with us. To add insult to injury, when we arrived back at the hotel at about 8:30 p.m., the girl that offered to take our bags did the check in with me, and she looked at her computer and asked "did your plans change? It shows here that you requested early check-in." REALLY?! Let's just rub some salt on that open wound, haha. I wish that the poor customer service ended there, but that was only the beginning. The next day I tried to purchase some things from the gift shop, and was waiting at the front desk. There was a guy working there who saw me, and said to hang on a couple of minutes because he was finishing up an order at the cafe. After finishing that order at the cafe, there were two other people that came up to the cafe to make orders, they had clearly arrived there after I was already waiting to check out. He took the time to help both of them before coming back to help me, it just seemed very rude to make me wait there when I was there before the other people at the cafe. To make matters even worse, I requested a change of bedding for one of our beds, and he said they don't routinely do that and it would be an extra charge. I didn't mind paying the extra charge, which is kind of absurd because it's a hotel and they should be able to change some bedding if you need it, but he just danced around the situation and ended up telling me to just pick up a change of bedding at the front desk. When I arrive later that evening to pick up the change of bedding, he handed me one single sheet, instead of two sheets and a comforter, which would be a set of bedding. Overall, the customer service was absolutely horrible and all three of the employees that I interacted with at the front or just very unsympathetic, and clearly didn't try to do anything to go the extra mile to make our stay pleasant. Super horrible experience, would never recommend to anyone

The cafe at Level 1 offers a decent spread for your breakfast, and kids loved the swimming pool experience followed by BYOM dinner. The location on the main road provided good connections to the Park and restaurants.
