Yavapai Lodge: Prime Location with Some Drawbacks

The location of Yavapai Lodge is fantastic—being so close to the Grand Canyon makes it incredibly convenient for exploring this natural wonder. However, I felt the accommodations left much to be desired. The rooms are outdated and not well noise-proof, which made it difficult to feel fully comfortable. Additionally, the heating system was very noisy, which disrupted my ability to sleep. One major inconvenience is the lack of internet in the rooms. For foreign travelers who do not have a local SIM card, this can be especially problematic. It forces you to rely on costly alternatives for communication and makes it challenging to stay connected for planning or staying in touch with loved ones. While the prime location justifies part of the price, I found the overall value lacking. Breakfast is not included in the stay, and nearby dining options are quite expensive for the quality of food offered. For the cost, I expected a higher standard of comfort and amenities. If you're prioritizing location above all else, Yavapai Lodge may suit your needs. But for travelers seeking a more balanced experience, it might be worth considering alternatives.

The building looks quaint from the outside, but our room was old and quite smelly. The carpet and bedding smelled like urine. The bathroom was very dark. Any noise in the hallway or exterior stairs carried right into the room. Very close proximity to the park shuttle and Grand Canyon points of interest. Would stay in another in-park accommodation next time.

Great room that served the purpose we needed. It was expensive for two nights but the convenience of being inside the park was great. Perfect to have a spot to park and crash, away from the busy areas. The room was great and comfy and had everything needed.

We would stay here again!

We had previously stayed at this lodge several years ago, what a difference! The room was updated and very comfortable, the front desk staff were amazing. The Market was beautiful and well stocked with anything you needed. We had dinner at the Tavern. Perfect Spot to catch the shuttle to start your day at the Grand Canyon. We stayed here to avoid waiting in line at the entry to the Park.

Basic but clean

I'll just start by saying you're paying 100 percent for the location. The location is perfect and close to everything. We walked everywhere. The room is basic but it's clean. That's about the best I can say about it. The sheets were very rough, the bed wasn't the most comfortable, and walls were extremely thin. We could hear every cough, sneeze, and even normal voices of our neighbors. The restaurant at the resort is cafeteria style and it's buffet food. There seemed to be alot of confusion for everyone about how the while thing worked & didn't seen to be many people working. The tavern wasn't much different. It was freezing cold (most seating is outside) and people had to ask before any heaters were turned on. My soup was lukewarm even after I sent it back. Overall If you just need a place to sleep while you're at the park all day, I'd recommend it. It's a clean room with a great location.
